Video Information

RULES

When you post your resume, the most important feature is your video recording. Biographies can be misleading, but a good video recording is the best presentation that you can give to the employers using Audition4All.com. So read carefully all the information about the video recording.

General Information

The hands, the face and the instrument of the musician/musicians should be visible during the recording.

Piano accompagnement is not mandatory but it is recommended.

Cutting and merging multiple takes is not allowed. The recordings must be in one unedited take. The video recording has the purpose to similate a real audition, in this way the employer can have a clear idea about how you play in real life.

The repertoire for the video recording is listed below in this page. All the categories that are not listed below should record a free choice program with at least two different pieces of contrasting character. The video recording must be no longer than 12 minutes.

The video should be posted on YouTube or Vimeo with the following title:

Audition4All video recording – Your Name, your instrument/category
In the “Description” field, list the compositions performed in your video

Copy and paste the URL link or the embed code in the ‘Video URL’ field in the Resume Form.

Please follow all the indications. Any video that does not follow our guidelines will be removed.

Tips For A Good Video Recording

Be Prepared: whoever is listening to your recording will assume that you have selected your best take, and so an even better result of a live audition will be expected.

Use Good Equipment: Use an external microphone. External microphones tend to be better than the ones built in the video cameras. Experiment with the different settings of your recorder and find the setting that best represents your tone and dynamics. If your recorder has the ‘automatic gain control’ setting, turn it off, this setting equilizes the dynamics.

Use a Tripod: A stable shooting is much better than a shaky one. The camera and the microphon should be more or less at the same height of your shoulders.

Choose a Good Recording Room: Try to find a big room with a high ceiling. Try the acustic before, it should not be too dry or too loud. Avoid rooms with background noise. The room should be clean and ‘objects-free’, keep it as simple as possible. Experiment with the position of video camera and microphone to obtain the best possible result.

Be Aware of the Lighting: Lighting is more important than the type of camera you use. Modern digital cameras have usually good-enough resolution for YouTube.Take advantage of natural light. The source of the light should be behind the camera or slightly to the side.
